Position Description

JACS is seeking a Subject Matter Expert - Environmental Health that can provide in-depth expertise in identifying, assessing, and managing environmental factors that impact public health.

Responsibilities 

This role will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support in identifying, assessing, and mitigating environmental health risks and promoting healthy environments.

  • Provide expert guidance on environmental health issues, including air and water quality, hazardous waste management, and climate change adaptation.

  • Conduct environmental health assessments and risk analyses to identify potential problems and exposures in communities and workplaces.

  • Develop and implement strategies and interventions to mitigate environmental health risks and promote healthy behaviors and practices.

  • Collaborate with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community members to advocate for policies and regulations that protect public health and the environment.

  • Conduct research and evaluation studies to assess the effectiveness of environmental health interventions and inform evidence-based decision-making.

  • Represent the organization in professional forums, conferences, and working groups focused on environmental health and public health.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of environmental health sciences, including knowledge of environmental contaminants, exposure pathways, and health effects.

  • Familiar with relevant regulations and guidelines related to environmental health, as well as best practices for environmental monitoring and mitigation strategies.
